The changes on the outside would be hard for me to pick up on unless I had the updated model and the previous model side by side, to be honest. The current-generation Sentra has never stood out to me from a design standpoint and still looks a bit dull to my eye.&lt;p&gt;However, I did pick up on the new stereo head unit in the interior, which looks sleeker and is user-friendly.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The good news for your pocketbook is that Nissan dropped the base price across the entire Sentra lineup for 2010. In the case of our 2.0 SL model, the base price was reduced by $1,100 compared with the 2009 model year--not too shabby.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The car also stacks up well against the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla. With a solid platform, the Sentra handles and changes directions quick. I was pleasantly surprised by the steering, which had nice weight and steering feel, unlike most regular Nissan vehicles. The suspension is competent to tackle daily road problems such as bumps and holes fine with some lean through turns.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Performance from the 2.0-liter is sufficient, and the CVT wasn't bad. I still prefer the operation of a good old-fashion torque-converter automatic instead of the drone CVT-equipped vehicles have under hard acceleration. Brake performance is also strong with a solid pedal feel.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The interior is straight-forward with good quality materials and plastics trim finishes throughout. As with the exterior, it's on the dull side, but is a comfortable enough place to be.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The thing is, simple and bland styling with competent driving performance and good fuel economy reigns supreme in this category. For that, the Sentra has it all down pat.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;SENIOR WEB REPORTER GREG MIGLIORE:&lt;/b&gt; The Sentra is a decent competitor in this segment and has plenty going for it. I liked the tight chassis. It gave the car a good feel with just enough firmness--well done. I came away impressed with the I4; it worked well with the CVT and provided more than adequate get-up. When a car has 140 horses, you tend to fear the worst, but the Sentra is not underpowered and is more than up to the task for passing. I did rev it close to redline to split traffic during the morning commute, but it did the job, no problem, with just the expected four-banger noise rasp. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The cabin is a relatively nice setting. Some of the materials, particularly the seats, look and feel great. Some of the other materials were a little less impressive. The interior is also quiet enough for a car this size. Some outside noise filters in, but we're not talking luxury cars here. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The satellite radio, seat burners and sunroof all give this a livable feel; it's nice to be able to dress up a fairly basic car. My only real beef is I wasn't a fan of the steering; it just felt a little rubbery to me. I also think the pricing is a touch high. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The design is bland on the outside, but what car in this segment does drop jaws? The Sentra is nonoffensive and has some nice touches with the body molding. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Overall, this is a solid package, and the fuel economy is great. In these times, this is a good product to have in your arsenal if you're a carmaker looking to move the metal.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;EDITOR WES RAYNAL:&lt;/b&gt; Nissan, not really often on my radar screen, seems to be perking up a bit. The Juke is cool in my opinion, and the upmarket Infiniti QX56 looks strong.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As for this Sentra, it's not a bad a little car, like the Versa that I drove a while back. It's almost perfect for commuting. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As I've often said, CVTs remind me of a snowmobile: You hit the gas, the engine revs up, nothing happens at first and eventually things get rolling. But this is good, basic transportation. The ride is compliant and comfortable, one of the better rides among the small cars, something one would appreciate in Detroit.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Build quality and materials are not as bad as the Versa and even if they weren't, you'd sort of expect it. I did hear some rattles coming from the back-seat area. Like the Versa, the Sentra is not sexy, fast or fun. But it's a decent little commuter/city car. Read our review and decide for yourself.) is the nearly $400,000 (or more) Lexus?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Clearly, with a price gap that large, the two automakers don't necessarily count the opposing product as direct competition for its own... but that doesn't mean we aren't keenly interested in seeing how the two Japanese performance behemoths stack up when the light turns green. Got your interest piqued?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fortunately for us, &lt;em&gt;Motor Trend&lt;/em&gt; managed to procure a brand-new Lexus LFA for testing just long enough to line it up against the magazine's own long-term Nissan GT-R for an impromptu drag race. Well, the Lexus unleashed all 552 of its horsepower (at 8,700 RPM) and 354 pound-feet of torque (at 6,800 RPM) to its rear wheels and the Nissan used its all-wheel drive system to its advantage.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And? Starting from the outside, the 'chrome' vinyl wrap is complemented by tinted windows, a carbon wrap for the bonnet and a set of uber-discreet 'CFC' stickers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;a name="more"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;The H2 rides on massive 28-inch TunerShop light-alloy rims shod in jumbo-sized 325/35 R28 pneumatic tires by Kumho. Other exterior 'upgrades' include the four tail pipes, additional lights, chromed side guards and let's not forget, the Lambo-Style-Doors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;CFC's decorators really outdid themselves with the H2's interior. Applying lessons learned from the cheesiest of limo-makers, the SUV's cabin has been fitted with no more than... 17 LCD screens plus an HD TV, (on the ceiling, sunscreen, central console between the front seats, trunk and doors), a DVD-player, a 1.360-Watt RMS music system, a mini bar and probably some other thing we forgot to mention.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Style-wise, the seats have been upholstered in black leather with yellow stitches while there's also a new rear sofa and yellow decorative trim on the dash.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;Finally, CFC also tampered around with the Hummer H2's engine which now puts out a total of 480HP.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Verdana;"&gt;For better or for worse, the German tuner did not release details on pricing.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; At next month's Chicago Auto Show, BMW will be reviving the Alpina B7, and while the sweet 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8 remains under the hood, the dial has been turned up from the stock 400 horsepower to a full 500 hp, along with 516 pound-feet of twist. That should be enough to catapult the big sedan to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; By itself, big power is useless unless spend all your time at the drag strip and the 7 Series is capable of so much more. Handling has long been a BMW hallmark and the 21-inch, 20-spoke Alpina wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 rubber should provide plenty of grip for directional changes and positive and negative acceleration. A deeper front air dam and a rear decklid spoiler help keep the car glued to the pavement at autobahn level velocities, while inside the B7 coddles its occupants in upgraded leather and wood trim.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; The B7 goes on sale this spring in both standard and long wheelbase formats, although pricing has yet to be announced. The package, based on the Laureate trim level, adds such "special" touches as metallic paint, visible top-stitching on the black fabric upholstery, MP3-capable CD player and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. Sync is built on top of a Microsoft-developed software platform and after a couple of years of Ford exclusivity, Kia just announced a similar system called Uvo. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, Continental announced its own competing platform for in-car connectivity called Autolinq.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; While Microsoft's in-car operating system is completely proprietary, Continental's system is based on the Google's open-source Android OS. Android's popularity is on the rise thanks to cell phones like the new Nexus One and the Motorola Droid. Continental hopes to leverage that community of software developers to create applications that can be downloaded directly to the car. This roughly mirrors Ford's recent announcement that developers will be able to create apps for Sync.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Continental plans to release a software development kit for Autolinq by the end of March, and have applications to demonstrate in the second half of this year. Rumours are gathering that Ford is preparing to reveal its third-generation Focus in saloon and hatchback form at the US expo next week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As Auto Express closed for press over the Christmas holidays, news had leaked on to the North American International Auto Show’s own website. We brought you pictures of the whole new Focus family in Issue 1,092 (right), and the four and five-doors will get a bold face characterised by triangular lights and a stylish grille.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Don’t expect the latest Focus to be too radical, though. As a global car, it will need to have mass-market appeal. Contrary to previous reports, the car is believed to be based on a front-wheel-drive platform from the Mondeo, to ensure class-leading handling and increased space. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A new range of EcoBoost turbo petrol engines will be available. This will comprise 89bhp or 108bhp 1.0-litre units and a 170bhp 1.6. Diesel choices include a 1.6 giving 128bhp, plus a 2.0-litre with 168bhp or 197bhp.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Stop-start is expected to be standard on most cars, while Ford’s dual-clutch Powershift transmission should also help reduce emissions. In addition, the Focus will come with adaptive dampers, a lane departure warning system and traffic sign recognition. Wi-Fi is likely to be offered, too. Using a new and sophisticated V8 engine, this car brings back the “5.0″ badge which means a lot to ‘Stang fans. And of course it won’t disappoint them when it comes to action, as it’s got 412 hp and 390 pound-feet of torque. And it’s efficient as well, sort of!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;This new 5.o liter aluminum block V8 has four-valves per cylinder and comes with Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) technology. This system results in increased volumetric and thermal efficiency, and that results in faster response across a broad range of engine speeds. It also has specially designed tubular &lt;span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD4"&gt;exhaust headers&lt;/span&gt;. Ford has announced any performance figures yet.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="text-align: left;"&gt;The 2011 Mustang 5.0 can be had with either a six-speed automatic transmission which returns 25 mpg highway and 17 in the city, or a six-speedmanual transmission with 24 mpg highway and 16 city. These are great numbers considering the class of the car. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="text-align: left;"&gt;Apparently Ford was determined to make the new Mustang a proper handling car, because they went to enormous length tuning the chassis and suspension. The car comes as standard with Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS), 11.5-inch front and 11.8-inch rear vented disc brakes, and an enhanced suspension featuring an improved &lt;span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD2"&gt;rear lower control arm&lt;/span&gt; and stiffened rear stabilizer bushings. Stabilizer bar diameters, spring rates and dampers all have been tuned for improved dynamics.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="text-align: left;"&gt;As an optional package, you may order the Brembo braking system with 14-inch vented front discs from the GT500, unique 19-inch alloy wheels and summer performance tires. Ford says these features are for serious enthusiasts!&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p style="text-align: left;"&gt;2011 Ford Mustang also comes with a few styling tweaks, new 160 mph speedometer and the tachometer redline which now begins from 7,000 rpm instead of 6500! But the main feature is the “5.0″ badge on the fenders. There’s also three new colors available including Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat, Race Red and Ingot Silver. While much tuning can go on under the stock skin, which isn't exactly subtle on a Rex, it's de rigeur to go at the exterior with pieces of thermoplastic and visions of reshaping dancing in your head.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; If you're not deft enough to translate inspiration to metal, or you don't have a WRX, or you just want to avoid getting gunk under your fingernails and cutting your hands all up while trimming out big pieces of sheetmetal, you can do it with bits and bytes instead. Of course, a digital mockup is a good way to test out ideas before taking the nipper to the roof, too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Pete from Digimods has decided that the WRX could really use a rear-mounted engine, plenty more scoops, and a giant roof duct to supply air to the engine, and drown it if it gets taken out in the rainy season. It's a very nicely done rendering. Some will love, some will hate, all will likely have something to say. The newest one announced is the 911 GT3 R, which, as the name implies, is targeted at GT3 class racing worldwide. The GT3 R is the followup to the GT3 Cup S model and just as with its road cars, Porsche has aimed to make the new racer both faster and easier to drive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; The GT3 R is derived from the most recent Cup car that was launched in September. It uses a larger normally aspirated 4.0-liter version of the classic flat-six that cranks out 480 horsepower. Like other road racing 911s, this one is rear-wheel drive only and uses a six-speed gearbox. The GT3 will be shown publicly in January at the Birmingham Motor Show in the UK before deliveries to teams start next spring. Since we can't afford one, we're hoping to see a few of these in the ALMS' new GT Challenge class next season. Chrysler is planning to be a quality leader in only three years by dramatically increasing staffing levels in its quality team while working to dramatically clean up its engineering processes. Just one year ago, there were only 200 staff members on the quality team. Chrysler is now hiring 200 additional workers and shifting head count to beef up its quality team to over 1,700.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Quality boss Doug Betts, who was hired from Nissan during the Cerberus acquistion, tried to address quality before the automaker descended into bankruptcy, but Chrysler's woeful money situation led to the postponement of the Pentastar's long overdue quality renaissance. With bankruptcy in the rearview mirror and Fiat's full blessing to dig deep to fix Chrysler's competitive disadvantages, Betts now has the tools needed to make drastic changes. And some progress has already been made.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; For starters, Chrysler has cut per-vehicle spending by $240 million, and warranty spending is down 30 percent to an all-time low. In 2008, 75 percent of all quality problems were design issues, and that number has reportedly dropped to 50 percent this year though better engineering. The factory floor is also receiving attention, as Chrysler is adopting Fiat's "world class" manufacturing system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Chrysler has also made several departmental shifts to give workers more autonomy to make changes faster. In the past, problems were shifted from one department to another, resulting in an average delay of 71 days to fix a problem. Now cross-departmental teams are organized by 14 vehicle groups, like brakes or transmissions instead of by model alone. Many of the quality fixes will occur as Chrysler unveils new or heavily updated products between now and 2013. This time around... not so much. According to reports from across the pond, the Citroen Revolte concept has been approved for production and will carry the DS2 badge when it arrives.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The concept car was unveiled a couple of months ago at the Frankfurt show, and suffice it to say, it wasn't exactly the best looking debut at the expo. Supposedly reviving the iconic 2CV, the Revolte concept certainly lived up to its name. The production version, meanwhile, is tipped to take on the DS2 nameplate as part of the French automaker's new premium line-up that started with the DS3 and is slated to grow with the inclusion of the DS4 (based on the upcoming new C4) and DS5 (based on – you guessed it – the new C5). Pretty much everyone starts in karting, but from there F1 hopefuls go on to Formula Renault and other open-wheeled series; NASCAR aspirants to ARCA and the Nationwide Series; rally prodigees to local championships; and so on and so forth. But teams fielding Le Mans prototypes had to recruit from other disciplines. That is, until now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Earlier this year, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest – the organization behind Le Mans and its associated series – launched Formula Le Mans, known in America as the Le Mans Prototype Challenge. The idea was simple: everybody driving the same cars, designed on the same model as LMP1 and LMP2 racers, in support races to existing LMS events. French racing team (and, since acquiring Courage Competition, chassis constructor) Oreca was contracted to design and build the cars and help organize the series.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; The purpose-built chassis known as the FLM09 packs a Chevy LS3 tuned to 430 horsepower with Magneti Marelli engine management, driving an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox to Michelin slicks housing Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Eight teams participated in the inaugural season this year, fielding some 50 drivers at races at Spa-Francorchamps, La Sarthe, Algarve, the Nurburgring, Silverstone and Magny-Cours.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; The opening season was a success, prompting ACO and Oreca to launch a winter series, currently under way. But for next year's series, Formula Le Mans will be fully integrated into the Le Mans Series as another category, much as they've been run in the American Le Mans Series since their inception. In order to separate the FLM cars from the higher-level LMP2 and keep them running for the full race distance, however, the Oreca FLM09s be equipped with restrictor plates. Massa hasn't been in an F1 car since July's Hungarian Grand Prix, when a spring from another car flew up and hit him above his eye, fracturing his skull.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;  The first time he has even been back on track was last week when he took the wheel of a kart. Because of testing bans in place this season in F1, Massa can't drive the current car he was running until Hungary. As he gets back up to speed, the FIA has granted him permission to drive a 2007-spec car fitted with GP2 tires.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;  Massa has also spent time on Ferrari's racing simulator. Word has it he's already mastered Barcelona and is working hard at beating the Interlagos circuit now. Before taking the wheel of the 2007 car, he still needs to pass an examination, but once he's cleared, he could be on track in Italy by Monday. Yesterday, General Motors' Mark LaNeve, the company's vice president of sales and marketing, made an appearance on C-SPAN's Washington Journal. The final question of the segment came from a viewer wondering why GM has failed to offer U.S. consumers the chance to buy some of the high-mileage diesel cars it offers in Europe.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It would appear that LaNeve might have done better to take a pass on the question. Instead of talking about the cost of making those diesels meet U.S. emissions regulations or the difficulty in helping Americans overcome the misconceptions about the fuel, he claimed that no one has successfully cracked the diesel passenger nut in the U.S. (&lt;a href="http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/06/03/vw-clean-diesels-have-best-sales-month-since-launch-in-june/"&gt;which based on VW's May sales appears to be wrong&lt;/a&gt;). More startlingly, LaNeve went on to claim that diesel is $1.25 a gallon more expensive than gasoline. According to the Energy Information Agency, the national average for &lt;a href="http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_gnd_dcus_nus_w.htm"&gt;diesel this week is $2.35 / gallon&lt;/a&gt; while regular gas is $2.52 or $0.17 more than diesel. Iya, ini adalah cara jitu yang dilakukan para Agen Tunggal Pemegang Merek (ATPM) untuk lebih memperkenalkan produk terbaru mereka kepada masyarakat. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Usai sarapan, perjalanan dilanjutkan ke Salatiga. Kesempatan untuk menguji performa Luxio saat iring-iringan melintas tol Semarang – Ungaran. Tak ada hambatan, saat pedal gas mulai di bejek. Dengan kecepatan rata-rata 80 hingga 100 Km/jam, Luxio nyaman dikendarai. Begitu juga yang dirasakan penumpang di baris kedua. Namun lebih dari 100km/jam terdengar suara mesin bergemuruh lumayan kencang. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Setelah makan siang di restaurant Sekar Madu, Salatiga dengan sajian khas gudeg Koyor, rombongan diajak berkunjung ke SMKN 2, yang merupakan salah satu kegiatan CSR PT Astra Daihatsu Motor. Kali ini kegiatan dikonsentrasikan pada program Smart with Daihatsu.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Amelia Tjandra, Direktur Marketing PT ADM mengatakan, sambil test drive, wartawan bisa melihat secara langsung program CSR Daihatsu. “Ini adalah usaha kita untuk ikut mencerdaskan bangsa melalui program Pintar bersama Daihatsu,” ujarnya.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;PT Astra Daihatsu Motor telah bermitra dengan SMKN 2 sejak beberapa tahun yang lalu, kerjasama ini terwujud dalam banyak hal, antara lain pemberian 3 buah mesin kendaraan yang dapat dipergunakan sebagai alat praktek untuk menambah kemampuan para siswa, “Ke depannya ADM akan terus mengembangkan kerjasama untuk meningkatkat kualitas pendidikan disini karena hal itu merupakan salah satu kebijakan kegiatan CSR kami,’ ujar Amelia Tjandra di sela-sela kegiatan kunjungan tersebut.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Dari SMKN2, perjalanan dilanjutkan ke Yogyakarta. Rute yang ditempuh melalui Bawen, Magelang dan Muntilan. Di rute ini, Luxio benar-benar diuji habis dengan konsidi jalan lurus, menanjak, berkelok dan rawan kecelakaan. Performa varian matiknya, terasa loyo saat berada di tanjakan. Dengan latar belakang Candi Prambanan yang eksotis dan dikelilingi oleh rumput hijau, acara photo-photo berlangsung hampir 2 jam. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Kenikmatan berwisata di Candi Prambanan kurang lengkap rasanya tanpa menikmati masakan khas daerah setempat. Siang itu, para wartawan menikmati makan siang di Rumah Makan Prambanan Resto yang menyediakan menu-menu dengan rasa yang nikmat dan cara penyajian yang unik. Bayangkan saja, setiap masakan disajikan dengan peralatan mulai dari sepeda ontel, sampai gerobak dan becak khas Yogja yang dihias dengan kain batik. “Wah! Ini benar-benar wisata kuliner yang luar biasa,” ujar Ketua Umum Forum Wartawan Otomotif (Forwot) Eri Haryoko.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Kesempatan untuk menguji kembali performa Luxio tak disia-siakan para wartawan. Bagi yang sudah mencoba varian matik saatnya mencoba varian manual, sebaliknya mereka yang sudah mencoba varian manual kesempatan untuk merasakan varian matik di jalur Yogyakarta – Solo. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Di jalur Yogyakarta – Solo yang sebagian jalannya beraspal mulus, kedua varian baik matik maupun manual tak mengalami banyak hambatan. Para wartawan otomotif yang sebagian tak asing lagi dengan kondisi di jalur ini, bisa dengan leluasa meliuk-liuk di antara mobil-mobil yang berlalu lalang.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Bermain di posisi persneling dua dan tiga untuk varian manualnya, Luxio dengan mudah mendahului kendaraan yang berada di depan. Namun, seperti varian matiknya, Luxio varian manual sangat ideal berada dikecepatan 80 hingga 90 km/jam. Lebih dari itu, lagi-lagi suara bergemuruh mesin yang berada di bawah pengendara seringkali mengganggu.&lt;/p&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Tiba di Solo, rombongan test drive Daihatsu Luxio langsung menuju ke Kampung Batik Laweyan. Dalam waktu yang sangat berdekatan, dua ATPM yakni Daihatsu dan Suzuki memperkenalkan varian MPV teranyar mereka dengan nama yang menggunakan kata dasar yang sama.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ya, bila Daihatsu mengusung nama Luxio yang mengambil nama dari kata luxurious yang dalam bahasa Inggris berarti kemewahan pada MPV terbaru mereka, begitu pun dengan Suzuki yang juga setali tiga uang.&lt;br /&gt;Karena melalui APV Luxury yang akan mereka keluarkan pada Maret mendatang, Suzuki pun jelas-jelas menggunakan dasar nama yang sama.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Namun, siapakah yang lebih mewah dari kedua MPV yang mengklaim diri mewah ini? Dari segi tampilan luar, Luxio yang diklaim Daihatsu sebagai MPV termewah terlihat sangat 'biasa' bila disandingkan dengan APV Luxury yang dilengkapi dengan grille, bumper, side skirt yang lebih menawan. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Namun untuk bagian interiornya, Luxio terkesan lebih nyaman karena sudah dilengkapi dengan semua kebutuhan keluarga mulai dari perlengkapan audio yang dapat menghibur semua keluarga, hingga tersedianya benyak 'tempat penampungan' bagi perlengkapan dan tempat minum bagi penumpang.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Apalagi Luxio juga sudah dilengkapi dengan arm rest di baris ke 2 dan 3 serta ruang kabin yang teramat lapang. Mobil yang telah dipersiapkan sejak 25 bulan yang lalu ini akan mengusik pasar Suzuki APV dan Mitsubishi Maven&lt;span id="more-2659"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;, kendati harga varian paling lengkap lebih mahal dari kedua pesaingnya itu.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Acara peluncuran Luxio sendiri terasa begitu penting bagi Daihatsu. Pasalnya, pada kesempatan itu turut hadir Wakil Presiden Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Jepang) K. Kamio dan Kepala Enjiner Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Jepang) K. Sakamoto.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Menurut Sakamoto, Luxio mengusung platform yang sama dengan Gran Max. Mobil yang mampu mengangkut delapan penumpang ini, katanya, hanya akan tersedia di pasar Indonesia.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;“Luxio didesain secara eksklusif untuk pasar dan kebutuhan konsumen Indonesia,” katanya.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Hal senada disampikan Kamio. Ada yang bilang harganya kemahalan tidak sebanding dengan disainnya yang mirip roti atau kulkas. Mobil hasil rancangan Daihatsu Indonesia ini akan dijual antara Rp120 – Rp 130 jutaan.&lt;/b&gt;  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;“Kami akan meluncurkan sebuah MPV baru akhir Februari. Ini bukan Gran Max lho! Soalnya ada yang nulis Daihatsu akan meluncurkan Gran Max Luxio, saya tegaskan tidak ada embel-embel Gran Max di depannya. Namanya Daihatsu Luxio,” tegas Direktur Marketing ADM, Amelia Tjandra dalam keterangan singkatnya kepada &lt;i&gt;INILAH.COM&lt;/i&gt; Kamis (12/2) di Jakarta.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Semula MPV yang terkenal dengan julukan ‘baby Alphard’ ini masih dirahasiakan Daihatsu. Bahkan untuk memperoleh namanya saja, sumber-sumber di Daihatsu enggan mengungkapkannya. Namun, menjelang peluncurannya &lt;i&gt;INILAH.COM&lt;/i&gt; berhasil memperoleh keterangan langsung dari orang yang punya kepentingan untuk melepas Daihatsu ke pasar.  &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Tahun 2008 lalu sempat beredar kabar bahwa Daihatsu akan memperkenalkan MPV anyar mereka, Daihatsu Stylo, begitu namanya sempat dilansir sejumlah media online, cetak maupun elektronik. Nama ini sengaja dipilih untuk memberi kesan ‘mewah’. Kenyataannya, Luxio memang lebih mewah dari saudaranya satu platform, yaitu Gran Max minibus atau &lt;em&gt;wagon&lt;/em&gt;. Utamanya begitu melihat dua unit Luxio yang dipanjang di Grand Ballroom, Hotel Kempinski, Jakarta, saat Daihatsu menggelar jumpa pers dengan wartawan Ibu Kota. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Presentasi Daihatsu mengeksploitasi semua kemewahan yang ada pada minivan berhitung pesek ini. Begitu melihat dari dekat, mulai dari eksterior sampai ke interior dari salah satu tipe yang panjang dengan transmisi otomatik,  Daihatsu Luxio memang mewah. Interiornya tampil dengan warna beige, yaitu jok, langit-langit, dan &lt;em&gt;door trim&lt;/em&gt;. Hanya &lt;em&gt;dashboard&lt;/em&gt; yang menggunakan &lt;em&gt;two tone&lt;/em&gt; atau dua warna, beige dan hitam.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dibandingkan dengan saudaranya, Gran Max minibus, Luxio memang mewah dan lebih lengkap. Kualitas material interior jauh lebih halus. Begitu juga dengan&lt;em&gt; door trim&lt;/em&gt;. Kedua pintu depan dilengkapi dengan bezel tombol &lt;em&gt;power window&lt;/em&gt; dan &lt;em&gt;door lock&lt;/em&gt;. Hal ini membuat pengemudi dan penumpang lebih nyaman dan aman.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Varian&lt;/strong&gt;. Ketika Suparno Djasmin, CEO PT Astra International – Daihatsu Sales Operation membeberkan harga jual minivan ini, sebagian wartawan yang mendengarkannya langsung berseru, ”&lt;em&gt;Wow!&lt;/em&gt;”. Terutama ketika harga tipe X—paling mewah—dengan transmisi otomatik disebutkan Rp 162 juta. Bahkan, bila ditambah lagi dengan ABS mesti keluar lagi uang Rp 3 juta (tidak terlalu mahal). Mau lebih lengkap lagi, untuk tipe X Ultimate, aksesori lengkapnya dihargai Rp 6,8 juta.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dengan harga segitu, Daihatsu menargetkan produk barunya ini untuk keluarga yang lebih mapan serta membutuhkan kemewahan dan bukan sekadar fungsional.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Strategi yang dilakukan Daihatsu menjajakan Luxio agar bisa dijangkau kalangan lebih luas, memasarkannya dalam tiga varian dasar. Versi paling standar, D, dihargai Rp 136 juta. Pada brosur Luxio yang dikeluarkan Daihatsu, versi standar ini tidak dilengkapi lampu kabut, &lt;em&gt;gril&lt;/em&gt; tidak dilapisi krom dan pelek dari pelat baja pres.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Untuk tipe M dijual seharga Rp 146 juta dan X dengan transmisi manual seharga Rp 151 juta.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Opsional&lt;/strong&gt;. Ketika brosur Luxio diteliti lagi dengan cermat, ternyata beberapa bagian dari mobil yang dipanjang adalah opsional. Misalnya, lampu depan multireflektor dengan HID atau &lt;em&gt;xenon&lt;/em&gt;. &lt;em&gt;Gril&lt;/em&gt; yang diberi lapisan krom hanya untuk varian X. Begitu juga dengan lampu kabut, kaca spion luar yang bisa disetel dari dalam dengan menekan tombol (&lt;em&gt;electric-retracgtable mirror&lt;/em&gt;) yang dilengkapi dengan lampu LED sebagai sinyal untuk berbelok.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;Spoiler belakang dengan lampu rem, juga hanya buat tipe X. Begitu juga denga seluruh jok yang dilengkapi dengan penahan kepala. Bahkan, &lt;em&gt;two tone dashboard&lt;/em&gt; dengan ornamen pada kluster tengah juga hanya buat varian X. Bahkan, transmisi otomatik dengan tuas berada di &lt;em&gt;dashboard&lt;/em&gt; ditawarkan hanya buat tipe X. Hal yang sama juga diberlakukan buat audio Double DIN R/T+CD dengan MP3.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Fitur standar  pada tipe M dan X adalah AC &lt;em&gt;double blower&lt;/em&gt;, jok deret kedua yang bisa digeser dan sabuk pengaman untuk jok deret kedua dan ketiga.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Beberapa perlengkapan opsional lainnya adalah &lt;em&gt;cargo tray&lt;/em&gt; dan &lt;em&gt;cargo net, &lt;/em&gt;sedangkan ABS hanya opsional untuk tipe M dan X.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Perbedaan lain antara Luxio dibandingkan dengan Gran Max selain wajahnya, terutama &lt;em&gt;gril&lt;/em&gt;, &lt;em&gt;bumper&lt;/em&gt; dan lampu, di bagian belakang, lampu kombinasi tidak sama. Pada Luxio, lampu belakang desainnya terdiri dari dua segmen dengan posisi horizontal. Sebagian lampu belakang berada pada pintu belakang. Untuk ban digunakan ukuran 195/65R15.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Peningkatan lain yang dilakukan Daihatsu terhadap Luxio dibandingkan Gran Max adalah karakteristik suspensi yang lebih empuk.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Mesin&lt;/strong&gt;. Sumber tenaga yang digunakan sama dengan Daihatsu Terios, 1,5 liter VVT-i yang mampu menghasilkan tenaga 97PS dan torsi 13,5 kgm.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dibandingkan dengan kompetitornya sesama hidung pesek, mengandalkan interior yang lebih lega. Pasalnya, selain menganut bodi monokok, lantainya lebih rendah. Begitu juga dengan posisi mesin. Tapi, yang membuat merah kuping para petinggi Daihatsu adalah komentar bahwa Luxio itu sama dengan Gran Max.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Menurut Kepala Enjiner Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (Jepang) K. Sakamoto, Luxio memang mengusung platform yang sama dengan Gran Max. “Tapi mobil yang mampu mengangkut delapan penumpang ini, bukan Gran Max. Luxio hanya tersedia di pasar Indonesia. Luxio didesain secara eksklusif untuk pasar dan kebutuhan konsumen Indonesia,” tegasnya.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1946" title="luxio31" src="http://gustomobil.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/luxio31.jpg?w=499&amp;amp;h=333" alt="luxio31" height="333" width="499" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Luxio seperti dijelaskan Kamio, memiliki perbedaan signifikan dengan Gran Max. Jika Gran Max ditujukan ke konsumen komersial, Luxio hadir untuk memenuhi tuntutan keluarga pada kendaraan berdaya angkut penumpang banyak dengan kenyamanan yang baik.&lt;br /&gt;Pilihan nama Luxio pun sengaja dipilih untuk memberi kesan ‘mewah’. Faktanya, Luxio tampil lebih mewah dari saudara satu platformnya, Gran Max minibus atau wagon.&lt;br /&gt;Saat menyaksikan dari dekat, mulai dari eksterior sampai ke interior salah satu varian matiknya, banyak yang berkomentar, Daihatsu Luxio cukup mewah. Interiornya menyuguhkan warna beige, senada dengan warna jok, langit-langit dan door trim. Plus dashboard dengan two tone atau dua warna, beige dan hitam. Semakin membuat tampilan Luxio mewah.&lt;br /&gt;Dibandingkan dengan Gran Max minibus, Luxio lebih mewah dan lebih lengkap. Kualitas material interior juga berbeda. Begitu juga dengan door trim. Kedua pintu depan dilengkapi dengan bezel tombol power window dan door lock. Pengemudi dan penumpang akan lebih nyaman dan aman saat berada di dalamnya.&lt;br /&gt;Luxio juga tidak memiliki varian bermesin 1.3-liter seperti Gran Max. Mesin Luxio menggunakan 3SZ-VE 1.5-liter DOHC VVT-i.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1947" title="luxio41" src="http://gustomobil.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/luxio41.jpg?w=499&amp;amp;h=333" alt="luxio41" height="333" width="499" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Mesin bertenaga 97hp dan torsi 134Nm itu sama dengan yang digendong Daihatsu Terios. Karenanya, Daihatsu yakin Luxio juga sangat hemat bahan bakar.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;“Kehadiran Daihatsu Luxio semakin melengkapi jajaran produk Daihatsu. Kami ingin menghadirkan satu kesempurnaan baru untuk berbagai aktivitas keluarga Indonesia,” ucap CEO PT Astra International Daihatsu Sales Operation (AI-DSO) Suparno Djasmin.&lt;br /&gt;Daihatsu Luxio sangat mudah dibedakan dengan Gran Max. Mobil beratap tinggi ini memiliki desain depan dan belakang lebih gaya. Malah ada yang bilang mirip ‘baby alphard’.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1949" title="interior-luxio" src="http://gustomobil.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/interior-luxio.jpg?w=500&amp;amp;h=333" alt="interior-luxio" height="333" width="500" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Lampu utama, dibuat lebih besar dengan komposisi yang serasi dengan grille chrome dan bumper bercelah udara besar. Desain belakang juga tak kalah menarik. Lampu rem mirip dengan mobil keluarga premium.&lt;br /&gt;“Lampu rem yang menempel pada pintu lift-back tidak sekadar menempel. Lampu ini bisa menyala juga,” ujar Kepala Pengembangan Produk ADM Pradito Sugondo.&lt;br /&gt;Sugondo menambahkan sistem suspensi belakang Luxio berbeda dengan Gran Max. Menurutnya, penambahan batang penyetabil pada suspensi belakang akan menciptakan kenyamanan yang lebih baik.&lt;br /&gt;Daihatsu Luxio hadir dalam empat varian, yakni D (Rp 136 juta), M (Rp 146 juta), X MT (Rp 151 juta) dan X AT (Rp 162 juta). Khusus varian M dan X tersedia opsional berupa fitur ABS (anti-lock braking system) guna meningkatkan keselamatan berkendara.&lt;br /&gt;Pilihan warna pun beragam, ada dua pilihan warna baru yang tak dimiliki Gran Max, yaitu Crypton Green dan Meteor Gre. Nah!
